Technodyne International appointed as Tank Designer for Canadian Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal
Technodyne International, specialist designers of cryogenic liquefied gas storage tanks, has secured a new order from AltaGas Ltd in Canada.
AltaGas has announced that it received approval from federal regulators and reached a positive Final Investment Decision (“FID”) on its Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal. The terminal will ship 1.2 million tonnes of propane per year and is estimated to cost approximately $450 - $500 million. AltaGas will construct, own and operate the terminal.
Technodyne will be responsible for designing the steel/concrete full containment tank of 96,000m3 gross capacity including the ground bearing slab, external structures and piping to grade level.
Technodyne were selected because of the strength of their reference list with over 100 Technodyne design tanks currently in service and also their ability to operate in a flexible and collaborative way with owners and constructors. Technodyne will also provide site support throughout construction and commissioning of the tank.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2017 in compliance with the approval and the terminal is expected to be in service by the first quarter of 2019.
